SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Chatham County Police Department honored 50 officers Monday during its annual Pinning and Promotion Ceremony, recognizing new graduates, newly hired officers, and department promotions.

The ceremony took place at Bible Baptist Church and was held during National Police Week, which recognizes the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers across the country.

Department leaders honored 20 recent graduates from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, five newly hired certified officers, and 25 officers promoted through the ranks from corporal to major.

Each officer received a new badge pinned to their uniform by a loved one, family member, or mentor, symbolizing the support and sacrifice behind a career in law enforcement.

Officials say the annual ceremony is one of the department’s most significant traditions and marks a major milestone in each officer’s career.
