Charlie Kirk prayer vigil held in Rincon
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Locals in Effingham County organized a prayer vigil in Patriot Park Saturday night, September 13, 2025, in honor of Charlie Kirk’s life.
People gathered in a prayer circle holding hands and singing in his honor.
Chloe, an attendee tonight, said she wasn’t familiar with Kirk but watched his wife Erika Kirk’s speech and was moved by her message.
“What really spoke to me was when his wife said, ‘make heaven crowded.’ That really opened me up and made me come tonight with my parents, and that’s why I wore this shirt that I wore tonight,” said Chloe.
WTOC spoke with tonight’s organizer, Holly Kesler, who posted the flyer for the event only hours before and was touched by all the people who turned out.
“Charlie touched those people’s lives and so I think it is really phenomenal. The grieving is going to happen, we’re going to miss him for sure, but knowing his legacy was so strong and everything he did was so powerful, that it is going to carry on, I think is absolutely awesome,” said Kesler.
Kesler told WTOC that she plans to make a group from those who attended tonight.
Another woman, Nicole Rodewolt, told WTOC that Kirk’s passing has deeply affected her.
“It was really great just to see how many people were moved by him, by one person and then this loss. His legacy lives on and everyone’s continuing to carry on that torch and to keep his spirit alive and what he had to say in his message,” said Rodewalt.
Kirk’s funeral service is set for next Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
