Charges dropped in 2023 Hilton Head Island break in

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The charges against a man who was arrested for allegedly breaking into a Hilton Head Island home in 2023 have been dropped.

In January 2023, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kewyn Louis Williams, then 35, for allegedly entering a home in the early morning hours of Jan. 5. A then-16-year-old girl called police after allegedly seeing Williams standing in her room. Williams was originally charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, voyeurism, peeping tom, indecent exposure, and petit larceny.

On November 21, 2025, all charges against Williams were dropped, according to court documents. Court documents said Williams “did not have the capacity to distinguish moral right from wrong or legal right from wrong at the time of the alleged acts.”
