Candler County officials looking for person of interest in armed robbery

METTER, Ga. (WTOC) - Candler County officials are searching for a person of interest involved in an armed robbery.

In a social media post Saturday morning, the Candler County Sheriff’s Office stated Candler County Emergency Management was assisting the Metter Police Department with a reported armed robbery at the store located at 55 MLK Jr. Drive in Metter.

Officials say the suspect is believed to be on foot and armed, and officers are searching the area.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6’2”, wearing brown boots, a camo hat, gator-style face covering, black gloves and armed with a black revolver.

Officials say if you see someone matching this description, do not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately. They also state there is no indication of a broader threat, but ask that everyone stay aware of their surroundings.
