Burton Fire District responds to four illegal fires during statewide burn ban
BURTON, S.C. (WTOC) - Multiple illegal fires have kept Burton firefighters busy despite a statewide burn ban.
This week, the Burton Fire Department responded to four illegal fires, including one that spread into a large grass fire.
All four fires occurred while the state of South Carolina was under a statewide Red Flag Alert and burn ban.
While South Carolina’s burn ban was lifted Monday, drought conditions and elevated fire risks persist.
