Bulloch County house fire displaces three residents
BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A house fire early Tuesday morning displaced three residents after flames destroyed their home, according to Bulloch County Fire Chief Benjamin Tapley.
Fire crews responded to a fire alarm at 6:14 a.m. on Mud Road. The call was upgraded to a structure fire shortly after, prompting mutual aid requests to Statesboro Fire Department, Pembroke, Bryan County and Effingham County fire departments.
The house was fully involved when crews arrived, except for a carport in the back, Tapley said. Firefighters had to establish a water supply from a pond down the road due to limited fire hydrants in the area.
Investigation underway to determine cause of fire

The fire is believed to have started in the attic, but the cause has not been determined. The state fire marshal will conduct an investigation, Tapley said.
Neighbors helped the three occupants escape the house before fire crews arrived. No injuries were reported, though all occupants were evaluated by EMS. All firefighters remained safe during the response.
The house is a total loss. The American Red Cross was offered assistance, and Tapley directed people wanting to help the family to contact Bulloch VOAD, which can facilitate aid.
The investigation is routine with no criminal or suspicious activity suspected, Tapley said.
