Bluffton Police investigating possible senior prank involving pigs at May River High School; Students dismiss early
BLUFFTON, S.C. (WTOC) - [UPDATE; 5/15/2026]- Following the incident at May River High School, district leaders reminded students and families that senior celebrations must remain safe, respectful, and lawful.
Officials said the recent prank caused significant disruption and property damage. The district warned that vandalism, trespassing, theft, or damage to school property could lead to discipline, restitution, and possible criminal charges.
School leaders are also encouraging parents to speak with students about making responsible choices as the school year comes to an end.
The Bluffton Police Department is currently investigating a possible senior prank involving pigs at May River High School that has caused interior damage and forced the school to dismiss early.
Police say the school was vandalized and requires significant cleanup.
In photos sent to WTOC, pigs were seen walking the halls of the high school. Police tell us that there are no longer pigs inside of the high school.
Parents of students at May River High School were sent a message about the incident by the school district on Friday morning.

In that message, parents were told that their students are being held in the gymnasium while building conditions are being assessed to see if instruction can take place on Friday.
The Beaufort County School District sent out an update later Friday morning and said, “Due to the significant clean-up required, students will be released early today, with buses departing at 11:45 a.m.”
