Black History Month exhibit spotlights African American illustrators in Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Art, culture and storytelling are taking center stage in Savannah this Black History Month.
The Massie Heritage Center is hosting “Process to Print,” a pop-up exhibition celebrating African American illustrators and the creative journeys behind their work.
Running through Feb. 28, the exhibit features artist biographies and a step-by-step look at how illustrations move from concept to published page.
The program also includes school visits, community outreach and a juried student art and writing competition designed to inspire young creators.
A free artist talk and book signing featuring illustrators R. Gregory Christie, TeMika Grooms and Laura Freeman is set for Friday, Feb. 27.
The exhibition is included with paid museum admission at the Massie Heritage Center on East Gordon Street.
