That event will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm at Chatham County Police Department headquarters, located at 295 Police Memorial Drive.
The event is free and open to the public. Trick-or-Treaters can expect to walk away with treat bags filled with fun Halloween-themed items and plenty of candy, while supplies last.
Parking is free for the event, costumes are encouraged, and everyone should expect to have a great evening.
Joining the Chatham County Police Department for the fun will be Trunk-or-Treat stations sponsored by Chatham County Government, Chatham County Fire, Chatham EMS, and the Chatham County Tax Commissioners Office.
Statesboro Trunk-or-Treat
The Statesboro Police Department’s Trunk-or-Treat event at Mill Creek Regional Park, which originally was supposed to have already taken place, is now scheduled for Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Trick-or-Treat Times
For Effingham County, the Sheriff’s Office says "The time suggested to go out this year will be on Halloween Night, Fri. Oct. 31st, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m."
However, Savannah Police suggest trick-or-treating between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Not all local governments have released a suggested trick-or-treat time, and this page may be updated in the future to include more information as it becomes available.
Sunset in Savannah, Georgia is scheduled to occur around 6:35 p.m. tomorrow.
Previous years have also seen suggested trick-or-treat times vary for each city and county in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
Trick-or-Treating Safety Tips
No matter when you take your child trick-or-treating, it is important to remember that there are certain precautions that need to be taken with kids walking around in the streets, especially when it’s getting dark outside.

The Savannah Police Department suggests the following safety precautions:
- Only visit familiar, well-lit neighborhoods and homes that have their porch lights on.
- Walk on the sidewalk and observe all traffic laws.
- Parents should inspect children’s candy before they eat any. If anything is unwrapped or looks suspicious, throw it away.
- Make sure trick-or-treaters have a flashlight and are wearing costumes that do not restrict their vision, could cause them to trip, are flame retardant and are light colored and visible. Consider placing reflective tape on costumes or treat bags.
- Don’t run! Walk.
- Never go into a home while trick-or-treating.
- Children should always trick-or-treat with an adult.
- Notify the police of any suspicious activity.
