Beaufort and Jasper Counties move to e-learning Monday due to forecasted high winds

by Tomi Marcus

S.C. (WTOC) - Beaufort and Jasper County school districts are both moving to e-learning Monday, March 16, as forecasters warn of high winds that could reach 75 mph.

BEAUFORT COUNTY

Beaufort County School District officials added that all district buildings will be closed and all extracurricular activities scheduled for Monday are canceled.

Classes and normal operations are expected to resume Tuesday, March 17.

Officials stated teachers and schools will provide families with additional information about e-learning and students will have five days to complete assigned work.

The district said it made the decision after consulting with Emergency Management and considering safety concerns, including conditions that would prevent school buses from traveling safely.

Families with questions can contact the district at community.comments@beaufort.k12.sc.us.

JASPER COUNTY

Jasper County School District is also moving to an e-learning schedule Monday, March 16, due to the same forecast of high winds in the area.

Students should follow their school’s e-learning procedures and check with their teachers for assignments and instructions.
