Beaufort County breaks ground on new Wesley E. Felix Community Center
ST. HELENA, S.C. - Beaufort County officials broke ground Wednesday morning on the new Wesley E. Felix Community Center, marking the beginning of construction on one of two new recreational facilities planned for the area.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place at 10 a.m. at 179 Ball Park Road in St. Helena, with county leaders and project contractors in attendance.
County Parks and Recreation Department Director Eric Brown welcomed guests and gave opening remarks at the ceremony. Council Member York Glover, who represents District 3, offered congratulatory acknowledgments.
Officials in attendance included County Administrator Michael Moore, Deputy County Administrator Nicole Wood, County Council members, project contractors and architects, and Capital Improvement Projects staff.
The Wesley E. Felix Community Center is one of two new facilities that will be built by Beaufort County. The other planned facility is the Agnes A. Major Community Center, which will be located at 21 Agnes Major Road in Sheldon.
The groundbreaking represents a significant investment in recreational infrastructure for Beaufort County residents, expanding access to community programming and activities in the St. Helena area.
