Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office locates missing and endangered 75-year-old man
BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - [Update as of 9:45 p.m.] The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says Laugavitz has been located safe.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a missing and endangered man.
Norman Reed Laugavitz, 75, of Shell Point, was reported missing by family members.
He was last seen leaving his home on Shell Park Circle in Shell Point at approximately 3 p.m. on April 1, 2026 in his vehicle.
Laugavitz is driving a 2018 black Nissan Versa bearing a South Carolina license plate PSA851. The vehicle is distinguishable by a white trash bag visible in the rear window.
He is described as:
- 5’6”
- Approximately 135 pounds
- Blue eyes
- Gray, shoulder-length hair
- Full beard
He was last seen wearing blue jean shorts and a light-colored shirt. There is significant concern for his safety due to the onset of dementia, memory loss, and other medical conditions.
