Beaufort County School District names new library after beloved pastor

by WTOC Staff

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - The Beaufort County School District is honoring a community leader Thursday with the opening of a newly renovated library.

The newly renovated library at James J. Davis Early Learning Center is being named after Pastor James E. Moore.

The school district says Moore’s dedication to education has impacted countless families in the Whale Branch community.

The library is designed with purposeful play learning stations that support early literacy and play-based learning for young students.

Among today’s speakers were Pastor Moore’s wife, Gwendolyn.

She has also ministered to the local community for decades.

Thursday’s ceremony also marks the kickoff for the school district’s 5th Annual African American Education History Conference, “Untold Stories.”
