Beaufort Co. school district unveils newest traveling preschool bus
PORT ROYAL, S.C. (WTOC) - The brand-new wheels on the bus are going round and round in Beaufort County.
Wednesday afternoon, the school district unveiled a new traveling preschool bus at Port Royal Elementary School.
It will be the third traveling school bus the district has used since 1996.
“We know as a school district that basic needs must be taken care of first before real learning can occur,” Beaufort County School District Director of Readiness, Ashley Gould, said. “It really helps us get a step ahead as a school district, so that when they enter kindergarten, they are ready to learn.”
The bus will make stops at various shops, grocery stores, and other locations throughout the county.
“This bus truly changes lives,” Gould said.
It will help families better understand school readiness, answer any questions they may have, and provide them with the necessary resources.
“Not only are we allowing the kids in the high-quality learning experiences, but the parents are also receiving parent education as well,” Gould said.
The old preschool bus, which has been used since 2015, will be semi-retired.
It will be stationed in Bluffton at the district’s office, where parents and kids can still use it.
