Battery Creek High students advance to nationals after state runner-up finish
BEAUFORT COUNTY, Sc. (WTOC) - A group of Battery Creek High School students is heading to the national stage after a standout performance at the state level.
The school’s National History Day team placed second at the South Carolina State Tournament, held at Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach.
The team — Mason Benke, Imani Douglas, Jhonnai Myers, Anissa Smalls and Ashley Sandoval — earned a spot at the National History Day competition in Washington, D.C., scheduled for June.
School leaders say the achievement marks a milestone for the district, as it is the first senior exhibit from Beaufort County School District to qualify for nationals.
