Barbara Gooby announces candidacy for Georgia State Senate District 1

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Barbara Gooby announced her candidacy for Georgia State Senate District 1 on Tuesday.

District 1 includes portions of Chatham and Liberty counties and Bryan County.

Gooby is a lifelong Democrat.

Her campaign focuses on working for the region’s working families – a living wage, steady jobs, and a healthy environment for families. She says she also plans to address regional infrastructure needs – flooding & drainage, access to water, and roads & traffic; and ensuring Georgians’ voting rights.

“I am running for State Senate because I believe our community needs a representative in the State Senate who is accountable and responsive to the people who live in the community. You deserve someone who listens to you and is committed to working for you,” stated Mrs. Gooby.

Currently the seat is held by Senator Ben Watson (R) a Republican, who was elected to the State Senate in 2014.
