Bacon County jailer arrested on sexual contact with inmate charges
BACON COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A Bacon County jailer is out of a job and facing felony charges related to sexual contact with an inmate. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested 44-year-old David Christopher Jackson of Bacon County.
He is charged with three felonies -- Improper Sexual Contact by an Employee, Items Prohibited for Possession by Inmates and Violating Oath of Office as a jailor
On January 8, the Bacon County Sheriff requested the GBI to investigate claims of a jailer engaging in sexual contact with a female inmate at the Bacon County Jail.
According to the GBI, the investigation shows Jackson had sexual contact with one female inmate on multiple occasions while working as a jailer. The investigation also showed Jackson brought contraband into the jail on numerous occasions.
“While it is embarrassing when we must arrest a staff member, I stand on transparency and impartiality,” said Bacon County Sheriff Batten. “This type of behavior will not be tolerated, and anyone who commits a criminal act must be held accountable for their actions.”
Jackson was booked into the Bacon County Jail.
Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Waycross District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
