ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Have you checked your bank account lately? If so, you may be among the millions of Georgians who have received Gov. Brian Kemp’s and the GOP-led legislature’s tax refunds.
According to the Georgia Department of Revenue, a total of 2.6 million refunds have been issued so far, equaling $947,375,798. It also said it has been it has been averaging issuing 150,000 refunds a day.
But on the Friday before Memorial Day, the department said it expects a decrease in that volume until filing activity picks back up in the fall for taxpayers on extension.
Here’s how the tax rebates work:
- Single filers will get $250.
- Joint filers will get $500.
- The head of household will get $375.
- Those who filed returns in 2024 and 2025 are eligible, but they must not owe any money to the Georgia Department of Revenue.
