AAA offering Tow To Go Program for impaired drivers through St. Patrick’s Day
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Visitors and residents will flood the Downtown Savannah squares and most likely drinking so, the Tow To Go Program is for those who need help by leaving the car behind.
The program will run from 6 p.m. on Monday, March 16, to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, the 18th.
AAA will offer a free confidential ride and tow within 10 miles of where they are in the moment they call. It’s available to everyone -- AAA members and non-members. Also, it can’t be scheduled in advance as it’s designed for last-minute situations.
Mayor Van Johnson endorsed this program with a statement.
Every year we see on social media pictures of individuals who think they can make it home and the reality is we will get you. We would rather you get home safe and talk about the great time you had instead of putting you in a position where you regret and the event changes the trajectory of your life.
Savannah Mayor Van Johnson
It is offered in Georgia, but not in South Carolina.
How it works:
- Call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO
AAA said ‘Tow To Go’ has helped take nearly 30,000 impaired drivers off the road over the past 25 years.
