55+ prom night brings dancing, memories to Effingham County

by Shakuria Smith

EFFINGHAM, Ga. (WTOC) - Effingham County residents 55 and older will have the chance to relive prom or experience it for the first time at a special “55+ Prom Night” this spring.

The free event is set for May 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Clarence E. Morgan Regional Sports Complex.

Organizers say the event is designed to recreate the excitement of prom in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Attendees can expect a live DJ, dancing, light snacks, and a festive atmosphere.

Leaders say the goal is to give older adults a space to connect, celebrate, and create new memories.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our 55-and-older community to come together, have fun, and enjoy an experience that’s both nostalgic and brand new,” said Theresa Johnson, executive director of the Senior Citizens Center.

Residents can attend with friends or come on their own, with organizers encouraging participation from anyone looking to enjoy the experience.

Registration is available online here, and additional information can be requested by emailing jbaldwin@effinghamcounty.org.
