5 suspects arrested in connection to Fellwood Park shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department said five suspects were arrested in connection with a shooting at Fellwood Park, where three people suffered injuries during a large gathering.

On July 31, 17-year-old Ja’Quan Cooper, 17-year-old Kaleb Detty, 18-year-old Jamari Fields and 19-year-old Keonte Williams were all arrested in connection with this incident. On August 1, 18-year-old Johann Arena-Vasquez was also arrested in connection with this incident.

Arena-Vasquez, Cooper, Detty, Fields and Williams have each been charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault.

As WTOC reported on July 26, SPD Northwest Precinct officers responded at around 10:30 p.m. based on a ShotSpotter report where they found two victims shot in the leg. Officers immediately started performing emergency medical aid until EMS arrived. A third victim was found already at the hospital after being transported there in a private vehicle. He received treatment for wounds to his leg, arm, and hip. A vehicle was damaged while someone was inside, and the residence also had ballistic damage.

A woman claiming to be the third victim’s mother told WTOC that he was still in hospital recovering on Saturday, August 1. She said he was hit in the arm and stomach.
