4 cows missing, traffic alert issued in Long County

LONG COUNTY , Ga. (WTOC) - Drivers in Long County are being asked to use caution after several cows were reported loose near a roadway.

According to a post from the Long County Fire Department and Emergency Services on Facebook, the traffic hazard is in the area of Moody Road and George Swindell Road, off Cecil Nobles Highway.

Officials say there are four cows total — one heifer and three yearlings — currently unaccounted for in the area.

Anyone who sees the cows on or near the roadway is asked to call 911 immediately and provide their location so crews can safely recover the animals.

Drivers are urged to slow down, remain alert and use extra caution while traveling through the area to help prevent crashes involving the loose livestock.
