30 volunteers in Port Royal shave their heads to raise money for cancer research
PORT ROYAL, SC. (WTOC) - The St. Baldrick’s Foundation held a buzz and brew fundraiser event in Port Royal Sunday to raise money for cancer research.
Around 30 participants volunteered to get their heads shaved for the cause, including event organizer Jay Wine-Miller.
Wine-Miller launched the event to mark her 30th birthday, hoping to raise $30,000 for childhood cancer research.
“Port Royal is a small town with a big heart and I’m just so grateful for everybody who came out here today to not support me, but support the real reason why we’re here which is children, teens, and young adults that are diagnosed with cancer every day,” Wine-Miller said.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has funded more than $368 million in research to help give kids a lifetime.
