2026 Dreams Fulfilled Scholarship Gala kicks off Savannah Juneteenth celebrations

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Hyatt Regency Savannah Grand Ballroom was filled with people celebrating the 2026 Dreams Fulfilled Scholarship Gala.

The event officially launched the 2026 Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival.

This year’s theme, “The Crown Was Never Removed: Legacy Worn Loud.” It was hosted by Chosen For The Arts (CFTA) and they said it’s inspired by the historic Tignon Law and celebrates the resilience, beauty, and legacy of African Americans.

“Embracing our heritage and just reflecting on how far we’ve come,” said TG Live Band Founder Willie Moore III. “Juneteenth -- it’s a celebration for all to be a part of and just honored to be a part of it. I’m blessed and I’m grateful to be here.”

More than $8,000 in scholarships were awarded to participants of the 2026 Miss Savannah Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant Program and Chosen For The Arts scholarship recipients.

Scholarships include:

  • the Savannah Heritage Tourism Leadership Scholarship (Tourism Leadership Council)
  • The Eichholz Law Firm Crowned for Greatness Scholarship
  • The Majestic Arts and Leadership Scholarship
  • The Savannah State University Scholarship
  • The James L. Toles IV Foundation Scholarship
  • The LEW Leading Empowered Women Scholarship

Guests were inside honoring culture and self-expression through formal black-tie attire, elegant headwraps, statement headpieces, and regal fashions.

WTOC’s Morning Break Anchor Camille Syed emceed alongside Kareem McDaniel. Robert Johnson served as the Red Carpet Host.

“The Dreams Fulfilled Scholarship Gala reflects the true spirit of Juneteenth—honoring our past while investing in the future," said Patricia Perry, Founder and Executive Director of Chosen For The Arts. “Through scholarships, leadership recognition, and cultural celebration, we continue building opportunities that empower the next generation.”

They honored Roger Moss, Lillian Grant-Baptiste, Vaughnette Goode-Walker, Vincent Barnwell, Tanya Milton, Kareem Hill, and Dr. Estella Shabazz for their leadership and service to the Savannah community.

Entertainment featured TG Live Band and special guest violinist Giovanna Jones of Augusta, Georgia.
