2 children related to Savannah Police Chief referred to Chatham County Juvenile court, says department

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department released a statement regarding two children related to Savannah Police Department Chief Lenny B. Gunther who police say were involved in a non-violent incident that ended in a referral to the Chatham County Juvenile Court.
According to the department, “Chief Gunther promptly and swiftly recused himself from the matter.” The police department said the chief had no role in the investigation, charging decision or disposition.
In a statement on social media the police department said, “he trusts that the Savannah Police Department has handled the matter in a professional manner.”
The department also noted state law prohibits the disclosure of law enforcement records and files concerning juveniles, therefore no additional details can be released right now.
