1 taken into custody related to string of armed robberies in Evans Co.

EVANS COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Evans County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in connection with multiple armed robberies.

They said the robberies happened throughout Claxton and Evans County during the past year.

Investigators with the office’s Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant on Marguerite Street.

Phalon Tilley was taken into custody on Thursday at around 9:40 a.m. without incident in connection to the ongoing investigation.

“Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues,” they wrote.

The sheriff’s office recognized and thanked the Claxton Police Department, Georgia Department of Community Supervision, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for their assistance.

“Sheriff Mac Edwards emphasized that the safety and security of the citizens who live, work, and visit Evans County remains a top priority of the Evans County Sheriff’s Office,” they wrote.
