1 person injured in shooting in the 6500 block of White Bluff Road, confirms Savannah PD

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department responded to a shooting in the 6500 block of White Bluff Road. WTOC crews on the scene said they saw forensics and at least a dozen law enforcement vehicles in the area.
Police said the shooting left a man with non-life threatening gunshot wounds to his legs.
Northbound lanes of White Bluff Road between Stephenson Avenue and Jackson Boulevard temporarily shut down Wednesday afternoon while law enforcement investigated; the road has since reopened.

What happened
Officers said they responded to the scene at around 1:45 p.m. based on ShotSpotter reports.
Law enforcement found the victim in a crashed vehicle. He was provided with initial medical aid and then taken to a local medical center.
Witnesses said they heard a few gunshots, then a crash. WTOC spoke with Savannah Police Department Sgt. Joshua Flynn who could not say whether the gunshots came from inside or outside the car.
Witness pulls victim from car
While some witnesses ran into local businesses to take cover, one man did the opposite. He saw the vehicle crash into the pole and said he got tunnel vision.
“Well, like I said honestly I saw that he crashed into the pole but I didn’t want to just drive off and leave him there because God forbid something would have happened and it came to the news like, he passed away because of his injuries or something and I was the one who saw him. I didn’t want that on my conscience as people in the city were supposed to look out for each other,” the man said.
“Yeah, it just seems like as of late if there’s been a lot of gunshots and violence going on in the city, I don’t know what’s going on but at the same time it’s really not a good perception for people that want to come and visit and are thinking about living here so I just hope that law-enforcement and everybody is doing their due diligence to make sure that they cracked down on all this stuff that’s going on,” the man told WTOC.
Police said no arrests have been made and this investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020, or submit an anonymous tip through the SPD mobile app.
