‘Top Gun: Maverick’ star, Miles Teller talks SCAD Savannah Film Festival
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Saturday night, SCAD kicked off its 28th annual Savannah Film Festival.
Throughout the week, 167 different films will be screened.
The red carpet laid out in front of Jen Library had major film stars walking across it. SCAD students and many community members came out to watch their icons be honored in Saturday night’s celebration.
“Like all actors like start from somewhere and seeing how he’s improved so much and he’s on like a red carpet and getting an award and like it seems achievable for people that way,” said a SCAD student.

WTOC spoke with “Top Gun: Maverick” star, Miles Teller, who told us how much he loves coming to the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. He’s in Savannah for a new movie he starred in called “Eternity.”
“It happening kind of on this campus with all of the art students around. It just always feels like very pure. I feel like you for the right reasons that this film festival have always had a good time. Back in the day we would always late night do karaoke at the McDonough’s. It’s been a while since I’ve done that but I just like seeing all the kids. It’s just a really great everyone’s just having a great time,” said Teller.
‘Don’t give up’: Message to young adults starting film careers
David Morrison, a SCAD graduate and well-known cinematographer, had a powerful message to young adults starting their film careers.
“Don’t give up, believe in yourself, believe in your work and learn to like yourself when you’re not working cause you spend a lot of time doing that first, but you have to keep your confidence,” said Morrison.
The SCAD Savannah Film Festival continues Sunday, with showings beginning at 11 a.m. and the red carpet starting at 6 p.m.
