“Time Warp” takes over Bay Street Theater for Rocky Horror’s golden anniversary
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah’s Bay Street Theater is doing the “Time Warp” again to celebrate 50 years of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
“The Rocky Horror Show Live” opens Saturday, Oct. 17, bringing the cult classic to stage in downtown Savannah. The show’s run features nine performances through Halloween.
This year’s production combines the theater’s annual tradition with the film’s milestone 50th anniversary.
Director Trey Norris said the story’s message of self-expression and authenticity has kept audiences coming back after five decades.
“It brought about this kind of sexual revolution, the idea of ‘Don’t dream it, be it,’” Norris said. “Just be your unabashed self and have fun while doing so.”
The cast creates a unique theme each year for the production. This year’s neon and laser theme will add new visual elements to the beloved musical.
A full list of show dates and ticket information are available on the Bay Street Theater website.
