One person dead after car strikes tree on US-601 in Hampton County
HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) -One person died early Sunday morning after their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on US-601, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. on US-601 at Lena Expressway, about one mile north of Furman, Lance Corporal Brittany Glover said.
The driver was operating a 2018 Nissan Maxima, traveling north on US-601 when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree, Glover said.
The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene.
The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
