‘No reason this should’ve happened’: Loved ones call for change after teen killed in hit-and-run
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - At just 14-years-old, Marcus Anderson made his mark in his community. Described as ‘one of the best’, his friends and family say he was taken too soon.
Anderson was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday while he was riding his electric bike.

“He was the youngest one there, but he was my first call every time, he was the hardest worker I’ve ever met,” said Jacob Pilcher, a close friend of Anderson.
“He was just… an amazing kid.. you know,” added Michael Hudson, Anderson’s cousin.
A memorial at Ferguson and Glade street, started by his friends and family, has grown into a visible reminder of what happened there.
“Me and my cousin made that cross right there,” Hudson said, pointing to a cross placed at the site.
“I think people out here need to be smarter with how they drive, very often we have crazy drivers out here,” Pilcher said. “The kid needs to be known. He was one of the best kids I’ve ever met and I don’t think it ever will click because this isn’t real.”
Now, Anderson’s loved ones are pushing for justice and change. The arrest of two men in connection with the hit-and-run was announced Monday.

Family and friends are talking about safety for bikers in the area, noting that Ferguson street lacks sufficient lighting and does not have a bike lane.
“For people who ride out in the dark, I really wish they could put some sidewalks and stuff right here,” Hudson said.
“It would be nice if they had their own area, not having to get on this main road with these crazy drivers,” Pilcher added.
His loved ones say their lives will never be the same, but they hope this memorial will remind people of how their actions impact others.
“It’s not right, there is 0 reason why this should have happened,” Pilcher said.
Anderson’s family has asked for privacy as they mourn.
